As the second-largest discount store retailer in the United States, Target attracts millions of shoppers every day. Are you also a Target shopper and would like to know more about saving money when shopping there?  Here are 10 ideas on how to save money at Target.

1. Check Target weekly ads

Target weekly ad is a great resource for information on current deals at Target. Not only can you find what are on sale in store and online, you get store coupons and learn about how to get free gift cards with qualifying purchases.

2. Shop for clearance

Target has ongoing clearance sales. Clearance items have red stickers with prices usually ending in 04, 06, or 08. When shopping online, be sure to check their clearance section

In addition, Target runs holiday and seasonal clearance for you to save on items for next year. We got our Christmas tree 75% off and many decorations 90% off after the past Christmas.

3. Use Target Cartwheel app

Target Cartwheel is a free app that helps you save 5-50% on products at Target. Select discounts and add them to your Cartwheel barcode on our smartphone. When you check out, simply scan the barcode to redeem the offer.  You can also add digital coupons in the app. Using the Cartwheel app, you can stack manufacturer coupons, target coupons, as well as 5% off when using Target REDcard.

Even if you do not own a smartphone, you can still get Cartwheel deals by using their website. Sign up at the Cartwheel site and select “Print Barcode.” You can print out the barcode. Scan the barcode when you check out relevant items.

4. Print out coupons from the Target Coupon page

From Target coupon page, you can find hundreds of manufacturer coupons.

Besides, after checking out items, be sure to look over your receipt. Sometimes there are coupons at the bottom for items related to what you’ve purchased.

5. Sign up REDcard

If you are a frequent Target shopper, you may want to apply for Target REDcard to save big when shopping at Target. With REDcard (a credit card or a debit card), you save 5% at Target and Target.com, get free shipping on most items at Target.com, and 30 extra days for return.

6. Take advantage of the registry price

If you have signed up a Target gift registry, including baby, wedding, and college registries, you get extra savings on the items on the registry. For example, the college registry offers a 15% discount on anything left on the registry eight weeks before the event day.

7. Use Target Subscriptions to get free shipping and discount

Target subscription page enables daily essentials being delivered to you on a schedule you set. When you sign up a subscription order, you save 5% plus free shipping on your order.

You can change the frequency of your subscription, delivery date, shipping address, and payment methods. You can also cancel your subscription anytime.

8. Purchase Target store brands

Target has its own brand including Up & Up, Market Pantry, and Archer Farms. Their store brand products offer good value and quality. The price is much cheaper than name brands.

9.  Use Target price matching

According to Target price match policy, they match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target then find the same item at a lower price at Target.com or their competitors such as Walmart. The consumer can request a price match at the time of purchase or within 14 days after purchase.

10. Buy Discount Target Gift cards or earn free gift cards

Buy target gift card for up to 5.5% off from Cardpool or Raise.

There are many ways to get free gift cards. Swagbucks is a website that offers gift cards for paid surveys and other online activities such as watching videos and shopping online. When you use shopping app Shopkick, you get points for scanning and shopping items and redeem points for target gift cards.

  1. You wouldn’t believe it, but here in Australia we have Target but don’t have Wal-Mart!
Target is my go to place for buying household appliances and other stuff. Those things tend to be pretty expensive at local Aussie chains, so Target is definitely a more attractive option.
